Percussion Class
Percussion Class:
Percussion students are placed in a separate class from the wind players.
Both advanced and intermediate classes may be offered if the student
enrollment and staffing allows.
Auditions: Auditions are
normally required for placement in the wind ensemble (advanced band), and
symphonic band (intermediate band).
The wind ensemble and symphonic band will have a specific number of players
per section. Auditions will be held at the end of the current school year.
Members of the percussion class will learn the music for their respective
bands (intermediate band & advanced band) as well as how to properly play
all of the percussion instruments. We will focus on rudiments, note
reading, pitch identification and proper playing techniques. Students will be required to attend all
after school rehearsals and performances of their respective group. Any student from the symphonic
band that is accepted as a member of the marching band is committed to
membership for the entire school year.
