The band experience includes a lot of things in addition to the music.  By the time the first day of school rolls around in September, our band has been through Band Camp in August.  All of the incoming band freshmen are already a part of the schools MOST INTENSE AND SPIRITED ORGANIZATION.  You know your way around school, you have friends in the band that are upperclassmen, and most important, YOU FEEL LIKE YOU BELONG HERE!  The other new students are wandering around the halls like dazed visitors from another planet.

            Band members are usually very close friends.  Practices, performances and trips become social as well as educational.  It's not all fun and games however.  We insist that you keep up your grades at all times during the school year and attend all band events while doing so.

            We are not in the business of training students to be professional musicians.  Less than one percent of the students in high school bands go on to make music their career!  The concepts that are learned both about music and through music are among the most important offered in our public schools.  No other class exposes a student to the challenges and opportunities that instrumental music does.  Music teaches life long skills such as how to interact and cooperate with others.  It also exposes the student to the world of artistic and aesthetic experiences that are available to them.
